me, myself, my life ...

Submitted my resignation yesterday. Today is my last day with the company.

Got my train ticket to hyderabad fro Apr/15. Would be reaching Secunderabad Jn on 16th morning.

This weekend, I will be in Delhi; then will go home for 2-3 days and will be back on friday. Ticket for Rajdhani still shows WL, hope that it will get confirmed by Thurs morning, otherwise I would need to cancel my whole prog.

Laptop - At last I found someone who is coming back from US by this month end and is ready to carry a laptop for me. I will be giving the details to her soon or ordering the laptop online. I hope to get my laptop by April first week.

For the last couple of day, am feeling that I am not getting proper sleep. I’ve been sleeping for just 4-5 hrs every night for last some days. Yeah, it is ISB way of life, but I guess I should get good sleep once a week. So I plan to leave now and try to get a good sleep for 7-8 hrs tonight.

I ‘ve been hearing all sorta things these days, but I am done with my decision; inspite of fact that a cousin of mine is consistently trying to convince me otherwise.
Well ..anyway it is just another 26 more days to go for ISB.

Took both the managers, who are visiting us from US, to this restaurant. I had never been to this place earlier. It is a theme based restaurant.

When I entered the place, I felt like entering a cave. But as my eyes got used to the dim-lit ambience, I started liking the interiors. Various things which I liked – menu card which looks like a newspaper, drinks menu is printed on a bottle, dress of the waiters, flame like torches mounted on the walls, and paintings on the walls. Definitely a good place.

Food was good, not great. We had great fun; the credit goes to good ambience, drinks and one of these guys who kept of laughing on something or the other through out the dinner.

Apart from this, in the morning, I booked my train ticket to Hyderabad for Apr.15th.

This week, most of it was trying to figure out what all I need to do in office before I leave this place. Moreover there was a list of to-do’s to be completed before my boss visits us from US. Completed a section of work and then planned for presentations for knowledge transfer.

Then there are n number of forms (along with deadlines) on ISB microsite including housing pref and laptop order. Done with housing pref but have not still ordered the laptop for me.

Sad stories for the week:
- Realised that there is a big amount which I need to pay to income tax dept for this financial year, thanks to my highly optimistic investment projection at the year-start. Ultimately it means less money in hand than expected by me.
- I managed to drop my cell phone 100th time, and this time it refused to cooperate to my this bad behavior. And I end up having a broken LCD. The display which has now reduced to 2/5th of original, shows me only 4-5 letters of the names in phone directory.; and there is no way I can read any sms.

Had an alumni meet today evening. Lots of advice regarding the placements, isb life, what-to-do, what-not-to-do’s.
One thing that came very strongly is that we need to be very clear about what we want to do post-ISB, have an idea about the roles/positions/companies we would like to join immi after ISB and then work towards that.
Pre-terms - thats basically for you to get adjusted with ISB life apart of getting your fundas clear about the courses you take
First term - a little tough because you are new to the system, classes, people, assignments.
Fun time - you can have parties, visit city now or then; basically you have to prioritize and manage the time effectively.

This is altogether different world. Met two of the current students here and made some of things clear. In fact one of them bunked one of his class as he was sitting with us. Had a really long discussion with both the current students.
Infrastructure is definitely great and people around you make you feel like THIS is THE place, where you want to be.

I finally managed to get into yahoo group of isb admits. There is so much info, these guys have shared. I would go thro these posts selectively and on need-basis.

These days I feel like running out of time. There are lot of things to do - there is a looong to-do list - and then there are so many thing, I am sure, which I haven’t yet added to this list - am trying to avoid thinking about them. There are thing ranging from personal - shifting to hyd, what to do with car n other stuff; ISB related - laptop, loans; official - want to complete a lot many things before I leave this place. Well… I guess I should get used to this kind of life - where “time” is in dire scarcity.

As far as laptop is concerned, I didnt get anybody who can carry the laptop for me from US. I think finally I would have to take IBM R51 - provided by ISB.

This weekend is going to be busy; have planned for a visit to ISB for this saturday. Just to get a feel of place, where I am going to spend my next one year, a crucial one. Will write more about my visit there in next post.
